The ESCAPE, Lake of the Woods power boat cruise, was organized years ago by avid boaters on the lake with a goal of meeting new boaters, teaching the lake to boaters and for a good time. One of the original organizers and the ESCAPE'S first Commodore, Hank Henderson and his wife Ginny of Warroad, MN, still take and active role in each year's events. The ESCAPE is open to all power boaters and each year people of all ages and from many parts of Canada and the United States trailer their boats to Lake of the Woods to take part in this fun event.

The ESCAPE Cruises are held three times per year, plus a Winter "No-Boat" ESCAPE. The Summer ESCAPE is a three day Cruise on Lake of the Woods. The Spring and Fall Escapes are normally a single day event held in the location of choice of that year's Commodore.

ESCAPE XXXII Information
Bond, Boats & Beauties

Hi Everyone!

We are excited and delighted to be your ESCAPE XXXII Commodores. The theme for the year is BOND, BOATS & BEAUTIES. So whether you picture yourself as a fabulous femme fatal, a Bond bad guy or the - oh so cool - James himself, this is your season to play!

It's time for the SUMMER CRUISE 2006
Thursday, July 6 through Sunday, July 9

As Columbia Pictures prepares to release the next installment of what is arguably the most successful movie franchise in the history of film, we pay tribute to that most celebrated of dark heroes.

007 - BOND… JAMES BOND

ESCAPE XXXII Commodores Sue Wood and John Mang invite you to attend Bond, Boats and Beauties – three days of 007 actions on the Lake of the Woods. We’ll play ‘bond style’ and indulge our passion for cruising.

Choose a character from any of Bond’s movies or the Bond spoofs -- Are you evil… are you lusty… have you loved him or tried to kill him – you choose. There are great prizes for the best Bond, Beauty or Bad Guy so you’ll want to do it up 007 style.

To find your alter-Bond ego go to Google and use search words: Bond 007

Registration Fees

This year, due to the recent surge in the Canadian Loonie, the registration fee is $50 per boat, US or Cdn dollars. Please fill out the enclosed / attached registration form and mail or email A.S.A.P!

Meals are extra, as is bar service at the Lodges. The price may change slightly, depending on daily food availability.

If you plan to stay at a Lodge on any of the three nights, all the information is provided below, but you have to make your own reservations. Rooms are getting scarce, so don’t delay. Book your rooms A.S.A.P.

Any meals not catered by the Lodges are your responsibility. Please ensure you provision your boat with the essentials for morning munchies, coffee, and a few lunches – and of course, suitable beverage and snack provisions!

For the full itinerary, see the Schedule of Events page below.

Thursday, July 6 - White Birch Lodge, Sioux Narrows, ON

Lodge co-ordinates:
N49.24.658 W094.05.568
http://www.whitebirchlodge.com
1-888-776-1057 / 1-657-777-1057

Dockage

Early birds will be accommodated at the White Birch Lodge dock.

Additional dock space has been arranged at both the government docks, and Sioux Narrows Marine. Because the government dock is a user-pay facility operated by the tourism Association, the facility policy does not permit reserved slips. Our plan is to put as many boats as possible at White Birch docks, and direct the rest of the fleet to either facility, depending on availability.

Accommodation at the Lodge

Rooms are $80 night plus tax. Please Note – Pat only has 3 available cabins/rooms at this time, so if you require a room, don’t hesitate – book now!! Call direct – 1-888-776-1057 / 1-651-777-1057

Come early, walk around town, shop and enjoy the sights and summer craft store shopping. Gale Bouvier, The Northern Lights & Boutique Soleil, and Bill Hatfield, The Narrows have both offered door prizes for our event, and we encourage ESCAPE participants to visit their shops.

Day Two – Friday, July 7 - Wilderness Party @ 22’ Bay

Location

We’re anchoring on West side of Crow Rock Island. Co-ordinates for entry to the bay: N49.35.745 W094.34.653

This is a fabulous bay, nick-named for the uniform 22’ depth. There are plenty of spots to anchor, and the mud bottom provides an ideal hold.

Potluck Dinner

Please bring one or more of the following - a salad, main course, vegetable dish or desert to contribute to a potluck dinner on the water with the other boaters in your division. You will be assembling a “raft” with the rest of your division, so sharing will be easy and fun!

Accommodation

For those who prefer not to over-night on the water is right around the corner – so to speak – at Crow Rock Lodge.

Co-ordinates for the Lodge:
N49.35.757 W094.35.7000
http://www.crowrock.com/
Ph: 807-543-4001 800-547-FISH (3474) Fax: 807-543-4092

Cabins rates are $115 Cdn based on double occupancy. At press time, there were 3 or 4 cabins available, but again, call soon to ensure you get in!

Activities

Dr. Evil invites everyone to the “Shaken, Not Stirred” Martini Party, to be held at Dr. Evil’s secret Island Lair... (Insert evil, maniacal laugh). Bring your tender – it will come in handy. Exciting 007 action is planned - so be ready!!

Day Three - Saturday, July 8 – Clinton’s Ash Rapids Resort

Lodge Co-ordinates: N49.37.629 W094.45.650
http://www.ashrapidslodge.com/
Ph: 807-543-4025

Dockage

Andrew has constructed some new docks, and re-anchored the rest, so we expect plenty of solid dock space for one and all! There is room in the bay for those who may prefer to cast an anchor. Andrew will be on hand to assist getting everyone settled in.

Accommodation

There are a few rooms available for the Saturday stay at Ash Rapids – but call right away to reserve – they won’t last long. $49 per person based on 2-person cabin occupancy.

The Commodores’ Dinner & Ball

This is the big night, so dress the part! Prizes will be awarded for the best anti-Bond villain, the most suave and debonair secret agent, and of course, the most deadly femme fatale! Feel free to take some artistic license – and all of the Bond spoof characters, like Austin Powers, are fair game too!

Andrew and Tannis are proud to introduce their new haute cuisine chef – Tony Bergata. Trained in France, Tony has an unbelievable dinner planned for us, so do NOT miss out!! Check out the menu on the attached page …

Dancing and cocktails after dinner followed by a feature Bond movie.
