LAKE OF THE WOODS - ESCAPE CRUISE
A Message from your Commodores
ESCAPE XXVIII
JULY 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th-2002
The Summer ESCAPE for 2002 has been finalized!
Hello everyone. Nora and I hope all of you had a good winter and that you are looking forward to a great boating season in 2002. We have been working hard to come up with some new places to visit this year and hope you will enjoy the cruise.
We will start off at Ash Rapids Camps located in Ash Bay approximately 22 miles southwest of Kenora. Ash Rapids Camps offers modernized cabins with baths including showers. There is a large knotty pine dining room, full service bar and a large outside deck with spectacular views of Ash Bay.
Our second stop will be at Wiley Point Wilderness Lodge. Wiley’s and Ash Rapids Camps are not that far apart, but we wanted to leave lots of time on Friday so everyone could explore and enjoy the Clearwater Bay, Shoal Lake, Ogema Bay, Rush Bay, Echo Bay and/or Ash Rapids areas. Wiley’s has been a regular stop for the ESCAPE for the past few years so I am sure that most of you are aware of their outstanding facilities. They offer excellent dockage, a first rate dining room, full service bar and modern cabins.
The third and final night will be spent at Obabikon Bay Resort. This is roughly a 30 mile run on Saturday depending on the route your Division Leader chooses. Obabikon Bay Resort is a family owned and operated resort located near Morson, Ontario. All the cabins face the lake and offer private bedrooms, bathrooms and showers. It has one of North Country’s largest decks and gazebo. The 50’ x 50’ structure, with screened in eating area, overlooks the Bay and, weather permitting, will be the site of the Commodores Farewell cocktail party and dinner.
We are sure this is going to be one of the highlights of the summer and hope that you can join us for an exciting and entertaining cruise. We have included the registration form, an Agenda, a list of the most current Buoy changes (the new charts are not expected out until June) and a question and answer sheet.
Please mail your registrations in as soon as possible, and please make any room reservations directly with Lodges. Rooms are limited, so please book early to ensure you have accommodations.
